Kötterichen is a municipality in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the association community Kelberg .

Geographical location

Kötterichen is located in the Vulkaneifel nature park and in the Kelberg nature reserve. To the northwest of the village rises the Galgenberg ( 554.5  m above sea  level ) and south of the Jakobsberg ( 549  m ). The city of Ulmen is located about 3 km southwest.

history

Wonderfully country belonged Kötterichen, formerly Köttrichen or Kottrichen called until the late 18th century to the Electorate of Cologne and the administration was subordinate to the mayor office Uersfeld in office Nürburg . After the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794) and the introduction of new administrative structures based on the French model (1798), Kötterichen was administered by the Mairie Ulmen in the canton of the same name . After the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the town was assigned to the newly formed mayor's office Kelberg (from 1927 "Amt Kelberg") in the Prussian district of Adenau .
