	Blazon : "Under a silver shield head, inside a continuous, black bar cross, in red a silver Antonius cross with two silver pilgrim bells hanging on it."

Sassen belonged to the Electorate of Cologne until 1794 in the office of Nürburg. The black bar cross stands for this in the main shield. The local patron is St. Anthony. His symbol is the Antonius Cross, shown here with attached pilgrim bells.

Sassen

In the village is the Catholic branch church of St. Antonius, which was built in 1750 as a simple hall building and was formerly under the patronage of St. Wendelinus .

The 16 meter high wooden observation tower “Eifelguck”, inaugurated in 2016, stands on a dirt road on the edge of the village .
