coat of arms

Demerath Coat of Arms
Blazon : "Under the silver head of the shield, in it diagonally crossed a red sword and red key, in green a golden stone, growing from the lower edge of the shield, above two golden oak leaves with acorns."
Justification of the coat of arms: Key and sword refer to Peter and Paul, the two patron saints of the parish church of Demerath. The colors silver and red indicate the historical ties to the former Electorate of Trier . The lower part refers to events during the French Revolution . At that time, a so-called “revolutionary oak” was planted by the citizens in front of the church, under which the old court stone was located. The green background stands for the scenic location of Demerath.
