The TuS Mayen is a sports club from the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Mayen .

history

After the Second World War , the TuS Mayen footballers qualified in 1963 for the newly founded Rhineland League, to which the club belonged until 1969. After the resurgence in 1973, the club's most successful period began. In 1974 , 1975 , 1976 and 2004 the club was able to qualify for the DFB Cup , where it failed in the first round at Rapide Wedding , Sportfreunde Schwäbisch Hall , Hertha Zehlendorf and VfB Stuttgart .

In 1978 TuS Mayen just missed qualifying for the newly founded Oberliga Südwest , but rose two years later as champions of the Rhineland League. In the period that followed, the club developed into an elevator team: The descents in 1982, 1986 and 1994 were followed a few years later by the return to the Oberliga Südwest, to which the club belonged until relegated in the 2009/10 season. Since the 2010/11 season, Mayen have been playing in the now sixth class Rhineland League.

In addition to the football department, TuS Mayen also has gymnastics, athletics, hockey, handball, dancing, swimming and tennis teams.
