history

The club was founded on July 22, 1912 under the name Sportverein Hall and became the Haller Sportklub 1912 in 1921 . After the Second World War, it was re-established on November 26, 1945 under the current name Sportfreunde Schwäbisch Hall .

The footballers were assigned to the newly founded 2nd amateur league in 1950. After commuting between the 2nd amateur league and A-class in the 1950s and 1960s, in 1971 they rose to the 1st amateur league as champions with 50:11 points and 63:15 goals . Sportfreunde belonged to the highest amateur class from 1971 to 1977. After relegating in 1977, the following year they were able to celebrate their direct return to the class named after the division reform Verbandsliga Württemberg .

In the 1975/76 season the Sportfreunde reached the main round of the DFB Cup , where they defeated TuS Mayen 5-1 in the 1st round and lost 5-0 to the Stuttgarter Kickers in the 2nd round in front of 2,600 spectators.

The greatest success came in 1981, when they won 1-0 on the last day of the match at their direct competitor FV Zuffenhausen and thus became champions of the association league and rose to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , from which they were relegated as a newcomer.

After relegation from the association league in 1989, the path of Sportfreunde went down to the district league A. From 2011 to relegation in 2018, the club played again in the sixth class association league Württemberg, and since then in the state league.
