Daniel Bauer (born October 17, 1982 in Andernach ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Bauer began his career in the senior division at TuS Mayen in the five-class Verbandsliga Rheinland . In his first season he succeeded with the team promotion to the Oberliga Südwest , in which the team reached 12th place the following year. Then Bauer moved to the second division club Eintracht Trier , where he completed 26 games in the second division and 10 games in the Regionalliga Süd within the next four years .

After his contract was not renewed, Bauer was unemployed for a while because on the last day of his trial training at 1. FC Union Berlin he tore three ligaments in his ankle. In the following winter break he was still able to sign a contract with Union Berlin and was used in ten games in the Regionalliga Nord by the summer .

At the end of the season, Bauer was unable to agree on a new contract with Union and was unemployed again for six months. Then he moved to the Finnish first division club Rovaniemi PS and had nine appearances in the Veikkausliiga before the bad luck overtook him again and he missed the second half of the season due to a broken shoulder blade.

Since his contract in Finland was not extended, Daniel Bauer moved back to Germany. On February 2, 2009 he signed a contract with 1. FC Magdeburg that ran until June 2010 . Bauer had already worked with the then Magdeburg trainer Paul Linz during his time at Eintracht Trier. In his first season, Bauer was able to fight for a regular place and was used in 14 of the 17 league games. Due to a serious injury, he could only be used in 16 games in the 2009/10 season. Nevertheless, Bauer extended his contract in Magdeburg, which expired in June 2010. In the 2010/11 season he was the team's captain. In October 2011 he was deposed by the new trainer Ronny Thielemann . On November 23, 2011, 1. FC Magdeburg and Bauer agreed to terminate the contract as of December 31, 2011. Until then, Bauer was released. The reason for this step was the verbal attack by masked supporters of 1. FC Magdeburg in the player's apartment.

On January 24, 2012, Bauer signed a contract until the end of the season with his former club, SV Eintracht Trier, in the Regionalliga West. In the 2012/13 season he moved to Northern Germany for VfB Oldenburg . There he was sorted out in January due to irreconcilable differences with the sports management. On January 31, 2013, Bauer signed a contract with the Hannover 96 Regionalliga Reserve until the end of the 2013/14 season . After the end of the 2013/2014 season, Bauer became the team's assistant coach. For the 2016/17 season, Bauer switched to the U19 team at VfL Wolfsburg as an assistant coach .
