The SV Leiwen-Köwerich 2000 eV is a sports club from Leiwen , whose first football team (SV Leiwen 1946 eV) took part in the DFB Cup three times in the 1970s and 1980s .
The club, founded in 1946, played between 1971 and 1978 in the 1st amateur league of the Rhineland , in the following twelve years with interruptions (1981/82 and 1985/86) in the then third-class Oberliga Südwest , where they played a total of 316 games.
In 1974, 1979, 1981 and 1986 SV Leiwen became Rhineland Champion, and in 1981 they also won the Rhineland Cup . These successes secured the club
participation in the DFB Cup :
- 1974/75 : Out in the first main round against 1. FC Pforzheim (2: 2 n.V. - repeat game 0: 0 n.V., 3: 5 i. E.)
- 1978/79 : Out in the first main round against Preußen Münster (0: 6)
- 1981/82 : Out in the 2nd main round against Rot-Weiss Essen (1: 4) after a first round win over SC Herford (3: 2 afterwards)
They also took part in the German amateur championship in 1974 , where they were eliminated after two defeats (0: 1 and 1: 4) in the first round against ASV Herzogenaurach .
The association (club colors: blue and white) had around 300 members in 1987.
In 2000 the association merged with SV Moselland Köwerich 1921 eV to form SV Leiwen-Köwerich 2000 eV.
After being promoted from the District League West, the club played in the Rhineland League in 2016/17 . But as the bottom of the table you immediately relegated.
