The Sportgemeinschaft 1906 e. V. Betzdorf (short: SG 06 Betzdorf) is a German football club from the town of Betzdorf an der Sieg in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate . The club has played in the district league A since 2019. The club's home ground is the “Auf dem Bühl” stadium .
history
Today's SG Betzdorf came into being on September 6, 1906 when a football department was established in the existing Betzdorfer TV . In the course of the clean divorce , the footballers became independent in 1924 under the name Verein für Jugend- und Volksspiele 1906 , later Betzdorfer FC 06 . After the Reichssportverein Betzdorf had joined in 1934 , the club was merged again with Betzdorfer TV to form the Reichsbahn-SG Betzdorf in 1936 . After the liquidation of the association in 1945, SG 1906 Betzdorf was re-established in 1947 . From 1962 to 1979, the SG formed the ESG 06 Betzdorf together with the Eisenbahn-SV Betzdorf .
Sporting development
The Betzdorfers had their first successful era at the time of the Reichsbahn-SG, which took part in the promotion round to the Gauliga Mittelrhein and Gauliga Moselland three times in 1938, 1941 and 1944 . After the war, SG 06 Betzdorf, newly founded in 1947, did not play a major role for a long time. From 1947 to 1953 and from 1956 to 1959 and in the 1971/72 season she was in third class and belonged to the highest amateur league of the Rhineland Football Association, from 1947 to 1952 Landesliga Rheinland and from 1952 1st Amateur League Rhineland .
Between 1994 and 2007 the SGB played with interruptions in the Oberliga Südwest . After relegation in 2006/07 , immediate re- promotion was achieved in the 2007/08 Rhineland league season. Until relegation in 2015 , SG 06 Betzdorf played uninterruptedly in the league, where they even got 3rd place in the 2010/11 season . On the descent from the Rhine Land League in the District League East in the season 2017/18 followed in the season 2018/19, the next descent into Kreisliga A. The second team plays in the Kreisliga D.
