The 1. FC Eintracht Bamberg was a sports club in the Upper Franconian city of Bamberg . It was created on April 1, 2006 from the merger of the 1st football club 1901 Bamberg e. V. - General sports club and the gymnastics and sports club Eintracht Bamberg. With over 1500 members it was one of the largest sports clubs in Upper Franconia. The men's soccer team last played in the Regionalliga Süd in the 2009/10 season . The successor club is FC Eintracht Bamberg .
history
The first attempt to merge the two clubs was made in summer 2005. However, the project failed at the end of June 2005 at the general meeting of TSV Eintracht Bamberg, where the required three-quarters majority was not found. After half a year of discussion and advertising for the merger, the Eintracht members finally approved the dissolution of their association in January 2006 with an overwhelming majority. On March 9, 2006, the members of 1. FC 01 Bamberg followed this decision.
Four years after it was founded, 1. FC Eintracht Bamberg filed for insolvency at the Bamberg District Court on May 11, 2010 due to insolvency and over-indebtedness. A preliminary insolvency administrator was appointed to manage the business. When it became clear that the insolvency proceedings could not be opened due to a lack of assets, the successor club of FC Eintracht Bamberg was founded in 2010 to secure the sports operations .
The newly founded club took the place of the previous club in the Bavarian League for the 2010/11 season .
