The ASV Cham (full name: General Sports Club Cham 1863 eV ) is a sports club from Cham . The association has over 3402 members in 24 departments and 28 sports (as of March 1, 2019). The first soccer team plays in the Bayernliga . Between 1950 and 1962 the team belonged to the then second-class II Division South.

Club history

On December 7th, 1863, TV Cham was the foundation of today's association. In 1869 the association was affiliated with the Cham volunteer fire brigade . On July 12, 1880, TV Cham was re-established , which in 1919 established a football department. In 1925, SC Olympia Cham joined the club. The football department became independent as FC Chambia Cham in 1927 , but returned to the parent club in 1930. With the end of the Second World War , the TV Cham was dissolved. On April 1, 1946, a successor club was founded with FC Cham , which former members of TV Cham joined on July 15, 1947, whereupon the club took its current name.

Soccer

The footballers made it into the Bavarian League in 1949 and qualified fifth for the newly created 2nd Division South. In 1951, 1956 and 1957 the ASV was fifth and earned the reputation of a "favorite scare". In 1962 , the Chamer had to relegate bottom of the table in the Bayern League. Two years later, he was relegated to the regional league, before relegation to the district league in 1968 had to be accepted. In the 1970s, ASV Cham became an elevator team between the regional and district leagues. If the team made it to the regional league, they either had to relegate after one or two years. It was not until 1991 that the ASV was able to establish itself in the regional league, before being relegated to the regional league in 2008, from which they rose again after three years. In 2018/19 ASV Cham finished the season in second place and entered the relegation to the Bayernliga. Against ASV Vach , they were promoted to the Bayern League with an 8-2 home win and a 3-2 away win.
