Christoph Janker (born February 14, 1985 in Cham ) is a former German soccer player . He will be employed in the youth division of FC Augsburg from February 1, 2020 .
career
Christoph Janker had played in his youth at DJK Vilzing and ASV Cham before moving to the youth department of TSV 1860 Munich . There he played mainly in the regional league team . On matchday 31 of the 2005/06 season he made his debut in a 2-0 home win against Karlsruher SC in the second division . He was also used in the last three games of the season. Shortly after the start of the following season, he moved to the Regionalliga Süd for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , with which the defensive player was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2007 and directly to the 1st Bundesliga in 2008.
On February 7, 2009, Janker and his team-mate Andreas Ibertsberger showed up ten minutes late for a doping control after a game at Borussia Mönchengladbach , as they had first attended a team meeting. According to media reports, the two soccer players were threatened with years of suspension. The proceedings against the players were finally discontinued, however, because "there is no classic doping offense", but "it is a negligent violation of the anti-doping guidelines of the DFB", as the DFB Sports Court Chairman Hans E. Lorenz said reasoned. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim was sentenced to a fine of 75,000 euros and the physiotherapist to 2,500 euros.
For the 2009/10 season Janker moved to Hertha BSC . On January 30, 2015 he went to FC Augsburg and initially received a contract until June 30, 2016. On the 19th matchday in the game against Borussia Dortmund (1-0), he made his debut, but was sent off due to an emergency brake. In January 2017 he extended his contract until June 30, 2018. After a further extension, his contract expired at the end of the 2018/2019 season.
After the active career
From February 1, 2020, Janker will be employed in the youth division of FC Augsburg. As a “talent manager”, he will take care of the transition between the youth and licensed players.
