The DJK Ammerthal is a sports club from the Upper Palatinate municipality of Ammerthal . It was originally founded as a football club . Today it has other departments for motorcycle sports , hiking , cycling , skiing and gymnastics and has around 720 members.
history
The DJK Ammerthal was founded on February 9, 1958 and joined the DJK Diocesan Association in the Diocese of Regensburg . In the first 35 years of its existence, the club played in the leagues of the Amberg football district. It was not until the mid-1990s that he rose to the Upper Palatinate District League for the first time.
In 2006, coach Robert Ziegler took over the team and led it to the runner-up in the Oberpfalz regional league in the first year. In the relegation games to the Landesliga Mitte, the DJK was subject to FC Amberg . In the 2008/09 season then - again via relegation - the promotion succeeded. After two seventh places in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons, the DJK Ammerthal rose to the Bavarian League in the 2011/12 season thanks to the extended right of promotion as part of the division reform of the Bavarian Football Association . In 2015 you had to accept the relegation to the Landesliga Mitte, but managed to immediately return to the Bayernliga.
