Türkspor Augsburg is a football club from Augsburg . The club was founded in 1972 and rose to the fifth-class Bayernliga Süd for the first time in 2019 with the men's first team .

history

The roots of the association go back to 1968, when Turkish guest workers, especially from various Augsburg textile factories, took part in hobby soccer tournaments under the name “Türkspor”. Four years later the club was registered with the Bavarian State Sports Association . In 2005, the Augsburg football club “Genc Altay Spor Kulübü”, which was founded in 1979 and was independent until then, was incorporated into Türkspor, so that the club now has around 350 members.

After the club finished second behind TSV Schwaben Augsburg in the 2016/17 season in the Landesliga Südwest and failed in the relegation round due to the away goals rule at TSV Landsberg , they succeeded in the 2018/19 season with a goalless draw in the first place and a 2 : 1 win in the second leg against 1. FC Sonthofen for the first time promotion to the fifth-class Bayernliga Süd.

So far, Türkspor has twice participated in the main round of the Bavarian Toto Cup : In the 2014/15 season , a 2-1 win against TSV Schwabmünchen made it into the second main round, in the Türkspor a 0-1 defeat but eliminated against 1. FC Sonthofen. In the 2017/18 season , the club failed in the first round on penalties at TSV Schwabmünchen.

Venue

Türkspor Augsburg plays its home games on the main field of the municipal sports facility in the Haunstetten district of Augsburg . The covered grandstand there offers around 900 seats.
