Thomas Götzl (born August 31, 1990 in Lauf an der Pegnitz ) is a German football player of Finnish descent who can be used as a two-footed defensive player in both internal and external defense .

Career

Youth in Bavaria

Götzl, whose father is German and whose mother comes from Finland, was born in Lauf an der Pegnitz in Central Franconia , but initially grew up in the Upper Palatinate , where he joined TSV from Königstein as his first football club. Later he moved to the youth teams of the Middle Franconian 1. FC Nürnberg and from there to the youth of the neighboring SpVgg Greuther Fürth . Götzl drew the attention of the Finnish Football Association through good performance in the youth competitions, which first used him on July 31, 2006 in the Finnish U-17 selection . This was followed by eight more missions for the U-17s, of which his ninth mission on March 31, 2007 was also his last game in this age group.

In the summer of 2007 Götzl moved from Fürth back to the Upper Palatinate by joining the A-youth of SSV Jahn Regensburg , who played in the 2007/08 season as a promoted player in the U-19 Bundesliga . With a total of 17 completed missions Götzl then contributed to the relegation of Regensburg as eleventh in the final table and was therefore also recommended for the Finnish U-18 selection , for which he completed a total of nine games from January 5 to May 29, 2008.

Change to the Baltic Sea

Götzl moved to the new second division club FC Hansa Rostock in summer 2008 . At the same time he moved up to the Finnish U-19 team , for which he played a total of 13 missions between August 19, 2008 and May 14, 2009. At Hansa Götzl was first assigned to the A-youth trained by Michael Hartmann and attended the Heinrich Schütz Realschule , which was recognized as the elite school of football . During the 2008/09 season of the U-19 Bundesliga, Götzl then completed 23 appearances for Rostock, in which he scored a total of two goals. But Götzl had recommended himself through his performances for the Rostock regional league team in the men's area, in whose training he participated from the beginning of 2009 and for which he made his debut in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord on March 22, 2009 . By the end of the 2008/09 regional league season , Götzl made four appearances for the team overseen by Axel Rietentiet .

In the 2009/10 season, Götzl also moved up to the Rostock men's area, where he was still intended for the reserve team in the regional league, but should also participate in the training of the licensed team under Andreas Zachhuber . Due to the restructuring of the licensed team, Götzl made 19 goalless appearances in the regional league team, which in summer 2010 achieved the targeted relegation but was withdrawn to the fifth-class Oberliga Nordost due to the simultaneous relegation of the licensed team to the 3rd division .

Return to Bavaria and move abroad

Götzl found a new employer in SpVgg Weiden , so that after two years at the Baltic Sea he returned to the Upper Palatinate in summer 2010. Götzl then completed nine appearances for the regional league team during the first half of the 2010/11 season and also made his debut for the Finnish U-21 selection against Luxembourg on November 17, 2010 . However, the club got into massive financial difficulties and had to completely stop playing on December 1, 2010, as a result of which all games with Weiden's participation were subsequently canceled. The now clubless Götzl then played for the reserve team of the Upper Bavarian SV Wacker Burghausen , where he also participated in the training of the third division team under Mario Basler , before moving to Finland in April 2011.

In Finland, Götzl joined Rovaniemen Palloseura from Lapland , with whom he signed a contract until the end of the 2011 season. With the newcomer, he then plays in the highest league in the country, the Veikkausliiga , against the threat of relegation. In August 2011 Götzl played on loan a game for FC Santa Claus in the Kakkonen , the third highest division in Finland, in the league game against Tornion Palloveikot . With Rovaniemen Palloseura he was last at the end of the season and could not prevent relegation as a regular player. He decided not to extend his contract until December 31, 2015.

Return to Germany

In February 2012, Thomas Götzl signed a contract with the Bavarian regional top division club and then front runner FC Amberg until mid-2014. He decided to change because of the good sporting prospects, but also because of the professional opportunities in the area. He scored five goals in twelve games for FCA in the second half of the season and was promoted to the Bayern League North with him in 2012 . During the 2013/14 winter break, he moved from Amberg to league competitor DJK Ammerthal . The 12th place in the table was reached with the DJK Ammerthal, which means direct relegation. Due to the professional change, the contract was terminated in February 2015 by mutual agreement. Since July 1, 2015 he has been playing for the Bavarian national division club SV Sorghof in the middle season .

Others

Thomas Götzl's older sister Liisa (* 1988) is also a soccer player.

Remarks

1 Weiden stopped playing due to the insolvency of the club on December 1, 2010, which meant that all Weiden games in the 2010/11 season - and thus all of Götzl's stakes for Weiden - were canceled.
