Michael Hartmann (born July 11, 1974 in Hennigsdorf , GDR ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer coach .

Athletic career

Club career

The defensive player, who mostly played as a left defender, was active at the beginning of his career for FSV Borgsdorf, Stahl Hennigsdorf and BSV Brandenburg . In the licensing area he played for Hertha BSC and FC Hansa Rostock in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga .

Selection bets

Hartmann was appointed to the national team in 2003 by the then head of the German national soccer team, Rudi Völler , for which he made his debut on April 30, 2003 against Serbia-Montenegro and played a total of four times.

Coaching career

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season , Hartmann played at the end of his active career as a captain in Hansa's second team in the Oberliga Nordost and acquired his coaching license in the Rostock junior division from the end of 2007 . Subsequently, he was hired as the head coach of the A-Jugend Hansas playing in the U-19 Bundesliga , which he led to second place in 2008/09 and to the North Season Championship in 2009/10 and thus also to the final round of the 2010 German championship. There his team reached and won the final and brought the German U-19 championship to the Baltic coast for the first time.

For the 2010/11 season Hartmann took over the post of assistant coach of the Rostock licensed team under coach Peter Vollmann , after Hansa was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga to the 3rd division in the summer of 2010 . Subsequently, the immediate resurgence succeeded, but this was followed by direct relegation in 2011/12 , with Hartmann remaining in office even after the coach change from Volmann to Wolfgang Wolf . In the third division season 2012/13 Hartmann then belonged to the coaching team under Wolf as well as under his successor Marc Fascher , which did not receive any more contract extensions at the end of the season. Then Hartmann returned to Berlin Hertha, where he was involved in the talent scouting of the youth department.

On May 30, 2015, Hartmann's U19 team from Hertha BSC won the DFB Cup in the final against Energie Cottbus.
