Marc Fascher (born August 4, 1968 in Hamburg ) is a German football coach . He is the nephew of the music manager Horst Fascher .
Career
During his active football career he played as a defender for Concordia Hamburg and SV Lurup . At the age of 25 he ended his playing career and began coaching. In his hometown he initially worked in the youth department of Hamburger SV .
He took his first job as head coach in July 2000 at the fifth division Concordia Hamburg, for which he worked until April 2004. Despite athletic qualifications, the Concordia executive committee decided to forego promotion to the league for financial reasons.
For the 2004/05 season, Fascher moved to Kickers Emden . With Kickers, he became a champion straight away. Fascher's tactical concept was primarily characterized by a secure defense. Emden got 84 points from 34 games and crossed the finish line with a lead of six points over the runner-up SV Wilhelmshaven . In the 34 games Kickers conceded only 18 goals. In the first season in the Regionalliga Nord Emden was ninth in the table with the same concept, in the following season Kickers even played for promotion until the last matchday, but ultimately came fourth. Fascher did not see the last game of the season at Wuppertaler SV on the coaching bench: After differences with the presidium and the announcement that he wanted to leave the club, the Kickers officials fired him before the last match day.
In the 2007/08 season he worked briefly for Sportfreunde Siegen , but missed qualification for the new 3rd division with them . On March 23, 2009 he became coach of the third division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena . He succeeded René van Eck , who had been dismissed after a series of winless games and slipping into the relegation zone. Fascher was already under discussion as a coach in Jena at the beginning of the season, but those responsible had decided on van Eck. Despite being able to stay in the league, Fascher was released on May 29, 2009.
On March 21, 2010, Fascher was the new coach of SC Preußen Münster , with whom he initially received a contract until June 30, 2010. This was extended on April 30, 2010 until the end of the 2010/11 season. On May 6, 2011 Marc Fascher rose to the 3rd division with Preußen Münster on the 31st matchday of the Regionalliga West . This automatically extended his contract by one year. On January 23, 2012, Preußen Münster separated from Fascher with immediate effect. He had previously announced that he would leave the club at the end of the 2011/12 season.
On September 5, 2012, Hansa Rostock signed Marc Fascher as the successor to Wolfgang Wolf, who had been released the day before . He was signed as a coach until the end of the 2012/13 season . After there was no clear sporting upswing under Fascher, the club's contract was not extended in summer 2013.
In mid-March 2014, Fascher took over as the successor to Waldemar Wrobel as coach at Rot-Weiss Essen . In 2014/2015, the Rot-Weiss Essen team was able to play for the promotion places of the Regionalliga West for a long time. However, the team slipped in the spring of 2015 after four defeats in six games in the table. Because of this, the club announced the separation from Marc Fascher at the end of March 2015.
Subsequently, from August 1, 2015, Fascher worked for around ten months in Kuwait as Wolfgang Rolff's assistant trainer at the local first division club al Salmiya Club . On July 27, 2017, he took over the third division team of Sportfreunde Lotte as the successor to Oscar Corrochano . After a 2-0 home defeat against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach , he was released from his duties on October 31, 2017, as was his assistant coach André Trulsen .
