The DFB-Junioren-Vereinspokal is a soccer competition for male A-youth soccer teams. Participants are the winners of the A youth association cups. The competition was first played in 1987 and was called the DFB-Jugend-Kicker-Pokal until 2002. Originally, the cup was played at the end of the season, since 2002 during the season. From 2010 to 2018 the final took place in the Olympiapark amateur stadium and, since 2012, on the same day as the men's DFB Cup final, which was held in the neighboring Olympiastadion Berlin in the evening . In 2019, the final took place on the evening before the men's final in the Karl Liebknecht Stadium in Potsdam . As before, the award ceremony will be held one day later in the run-up to the kick-off for the men's final.

Up to and including the 2016/17 season, only the 21 winners of the A youth association cups qualified. From the 2017/18 season onwards , 11 teams from the A-Juniors Bundesliga will be added. The rounds are drawn and played in the knockout system with one game in each round. The offspring of amateur teams generally have home rights against the juniors of license clubs. If there is a tie after 90 minutes, the game is extended. If it is still a draw there will be a penalty shoot-out.

Oddities

In 1997 the second A-youth team of VfB Stuttgart won the title and prevailed in the competition against teams whose players were on average a year older. To get that far, the team first had to win the district cup. Then you won the Württemberg Cup against your own first A youth team.
