Robert Vágner (born May 12, 1974 in Pilsen ) is a former Czech football player .

Career

Robert Vágner started playing football at Lokomotiva Pilsen, after only a year he moved to the city's largest club, Škoda Pilsen . In 1993/94 the striker made his debut for the club renamed Viktoria Pilsen in the Czech first division.

1995 Vágner was signed by Slavia Prague and helped the team with eleven goals to their first championship win in 49 years. This season Vágner made his Czech national team debut playing 35 minutes in a 2-1 win in Kuwait . In the next two years Vágner could not build on his form from the championship year and scored seven and six goals respectively for Slavia.

In the 1998/99 season he was back in excellent shape, which earned him another, albeit very short, national dress on February 9, 1999. In the league, Vágner scored twelve goals, Slavia finished third and won the Czech Cup . As a result, his performance decreased and Vágner was loaned to FK Teplice shortly after the start of the 2000/01 season, for whom he scored two goals in 20 games. In summer 2001 the attacker was sold to the Budapest club Újpest FC . In the Hungarian league, Vágner scored ten goals in 31 games, after which he was signed by the Bundesliga club Energie Cottbus . The Czech scored two goals for the Lausitzers, who could not keep the class. In the 2003/04 second division season, Vágner met three times.

In 2004 Vágner tried again in Budapest, this time at the traditional club Ferencváros . After just one season he returned to his former club Viktoria Plzen and scored five goals in the first half of the 2005/06 season. In the second half of the season he couldn't add a goal and coach Michal Bílek instructed Vágner to look for a new club. Dynamo České Budějovice showed interest , finally Vágner moved to the second Greek division to Panthrakikos , where he signed a two-year contract.

During the winter break of the 2007/08 season, Vágner moved to DJK Vilzing in the Bayern Mitte regional league . In the summer of 2008 the Czech went to ASV Cham , in February 2009 he moved back to the Czech Republic to the fourth division club FC Chomutov .
