The Kuwaiti national soccer team is the national team of the Gulf State of Kuwait . The national team is a member of the Asian continental association Asian Football Confederation and the world association FIFA .
history
The Kuwait Football Association (KFA) was founded in 1952 and joined FIFA in 1962. Even before joining FIFA, Kuwait took part in the 1961 Pan-Arab Games in Morocco , where the team won a point against Libya in their first game but lost the next four players, including one of their biggest defeats in an 8-0 draw to Egypt . In 1980 Kuwait became Asian champions and in 1982 Kuwait took part in a soccer world championship for the first time .
In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup , Kuwait threw the favored Chinese out of the race, but was unable to qualify in the further course.
On October 29, 2007 , FIFA decided to suspend Kuwait from all international competitions until further notice. The reason given was government interference in association affairs.
On November 9, 2007 , FIFA temporarily lifted the suspension. Should the Kuwaiti Football Association fail to meet its obligations, the suspension will come back into force.
Kuwait played in the third round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup against Iran , the United Arab Emirates and Syria . In the course of the qualification, the team only got four points from six games and was eliminated from the bottom of the group.
In 2010 Kuwait won the West Asian Championship in Jordan.
Kuwait is u. a. with 10 championship titles in the golf cup record winner of this soccer competition, which takes place every 2 to 3 years.
The Kuwaiti Football Association was suspended with immediate effect on October 16, 2015. The suspension will only be lifted if the KFA and its members (the clubs) can carry out their activities and obligations independently.
