The South Vietnamese national soccer team was the national soccer team of South Vietnam . It existed from 1949 to 1975. In that year it was merged with the selection of North Vietnam to form the Vietnamese national football team .
South Vietnam was able to qualify for the first two Asian Championships in 1956 and 1960, where they finished fourth. The team could not qualify for a world championship.
