The Cambodian national football team is the national team of Cambodia . Cambodia has a very negative record, victories are a rare occurrence. Nevertheless, the highest of 4 wins in 53 games so far was an 11-0 win against the Republic of Yemen (North Yemen) , which, however, dates from 1966. In the 1970s, Cambodia even beat teams like Japan and China, but the Khmer Rouge dictatorship prevented further success. Cambodia has not yet managed to qualify for a World Cup. In 1972, Cambodia took part in the Asian Football Championship . Cambodia is currently ranked 166th in the FIFA world rankings .
On August 12, 2018, it was announced that Japanese soccer player Keisuke Honda would become the new assistant coach of the Cambodia national team. He will hold this position in addition to his role as a Melbourne Victory player .
