The Sri Lankan national soccer team is the national team of the South Asian island state of Sri Lanka . Until 1972, the team took part in international competitions under the name Ceylon .
Football is more of a marginal sport in Sri Lanka and the team is one of the weakest in Asia. Sri Lanka has not yet managed to qualify for a soccer World Cup or the soccer Asian Cup.
