The fourth South Asian Football Federation Championship , officially South Asian Football Federation Cup in 1999 , was held from January 22 to 1. May 1999 in Margao in India instead. Six South Asian nations took part in the tournament. South Asian champions in 1999 became hosts and defending champions India with a 2-0 win over Bangladesh . The Maldives came third.

The Indian city of Margao in Goa was chosen as the venue for the 1999 South Asian Cup . It was the record winner India's first tournament to be held. The venue for all tournament games was the Fatorda Stadium .
