The Nepalese national football team is the national team of the Asian state of Nepal . Football is more of a marginal sport in Nepal and the team is one of the weakest in Asia. Nepal has not yet managed to qualify for a soccer world championship or for the Asian championships. The greatest successes so far could be achieved in 1984 and 1993 with the tournament victories at the South Asian Games. In the country, the final victory on penalties against its big neighbor India in December 1993 is considered an outstanding football event.
