Holger Obermann

Holger Obermann (born August 31, 1936 in Kassel ) is a former soccer goalkeeper and ARD television reporter. From 1971 to 1984 he was one of the presenters of the sports show .

Life

The goalkeeper Holger Obermann was a contract player at KSV Hessen Kassel , Concordia Hamburg and FSV Frankfurt . In 1961 he went to the USA and was the first German professional in the USA. He played in New York at SC Elizabeth in the 1st German-American Soccer League . He began his career as a journalist with an internship at the Hamburger Morgenpost . Later he was editor and foreign correspondent for the New Yorker Staats-Zeitung , head of a German-speaking radio station and employee of the American television station ABC in Miami. After his return to Germany in 1966, he was senior editor at the television of the Hessischer Rundfunk , later head of the editorial department for television-sport current at Süddeutscher Rundfunk. He commented on football games for ARD. He also moderated the program Sport in the Third .

Holger Obermann has been involved in sport-related development aid in crisis areas for many years . His work as a “sports development expert” took him to around 30 locations on behalf of the German Football Association and the National Olympic Committee , including East Timor , Cameroon , Nepal , Bangladesh , Sri Lanka and Afghanistan . Since March 2004 Obermann has been an honorary member of the Afghan Football Association for his services to youth work. After the seaquake in the Indian Ocean in 2004 , he was appointed technical advisor for the development program in Sri Lanka by FIFA , where he also worked on site.
