The AFC Solidarity Cup is a football tournament for national teams organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) . It is the successor to the AFC Challenge Cup , which was discontinued in 2014, and is intended to offer the continent's weakest performing countries the opportunity to take part in international matches, as these rarely have the opportunity to play friendly matches.
The first edition took place from November 2nd to 15th, 2016 and was won by Nepal . The second event is scheduled for November 30th to December 13th, 2020.
Attendees
In addition to the six teams eliminated in the first round of the 2018 World Cup qualification , the three losers in the play-off round of the 2019 AM qualification should also take part in the first event. Pakistan and Bangladesh withdrew from the competition after the draw, so only seven teams participated.
The six losers in the first qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup and the four lower-ranking teams in the second qualifying round are scheduled to participate in the second event .
