The Northern Mariana Islands national soccer team is the selection team for the American outskirts of the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific .

history

The Northern Mariana Islands are not a member of the world football association FIFA , but were an associate member of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) from 1983 to June 2009 and then switched to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

In 2013, the team took part in qualifying for the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 for the first time, but lost the three games against Bangladesh , Nepal and Palestine without having scored a goal.

On September 26, 2014, the world football association FIFA refused the association membership on the grounds that the Northern Mariana Islands are not an independent state .

Trainer

In February 2007, the association appointed Jeff "Ziggy" Korytoski, a full-time coach for the first time, who should also be responsible for the women's national team . Korytoski has coached several university teams in the US and became US college champions with the eleven of Penn State University Women's Club in 2001.
