1983 South Pacific Games / Football
At the VII South Pacific Games in 1983 in Western Samoa , a football competition was held. Eleven teams took part in the tournament. The games were played in Apia in September 1983 . The game was played in three groups of four or three teams. The Northern Mariana Islands were ruled out before the tournament began. The plan was for two group winners to reach the semi-finals directly and the third group winners (Wallis and Futuna) to play two quarter-finals with the three runners-up. Ultimately, however, the semi-final participants were determined differently.
Tahiti won the South Pacific Games tournament for the fourth time.
