2007 South Pacific Games logo

With the XIII. South Pacific Games 2007 in Samoa two competitions were played in soccer. Ten teams took part in the men's tournament and nine teams in the women's tournament, which was held for the second time since 2003. All games were played from August 25 to September 7, 2007 at the Toleafoa JS Blatter Soccer Stadium in Faleata near the capital Apia .

Men's tournament

The men's tournament served as the 1st round of the Oceania qualification for the 2010 Soccer World Cup and as a qualification for the 2008 Oceania Soccer Championship . The game was played in two groups of five teams. The first and second placed in each group reached the semi-finals. The teams on the medal ranks qualified for the Oceania Championship or the 2nd round of the World Cup qualification.

Tuvalu was only an associate member of the OFC and not a FIFA member and could not have qualified for the World Cup. It was the first time that a non-FIFA member took part in a World Cup qualification.

Women's tournament

The women's tournament also served to determine the opponent for New Zealand in the play-off of the Oceania zone for the 2008 Olympic women's soccer tournament in China. The game was played in two groups of five or four teams. The first and second placed in each group reached the semi-finals.
