The fifth edition of the East Asian Football Championship , officially EAFF East Asian Cup in 2013 , was in 2013 held in South Korea. Four teams from the East Asian region qualified for the finals. Of these, South Korea , PR China and Japan were already set. For the first time, the team from Australia took part in this tournament, with Mongolia missing from this competition.

The qualifying round was played out in two group phases. In a pre-qualification, the three worst teams played for a free place in the second round. The other five teams not seeded for the final round also took part in this. The winner qualified for the final round. The East Asian champions will be determined through group matches.

  3. higher number of points from games between teams with equal points and goals;

Finals

The finals took place in parallel with the women's tournament, with the first four games taking place in the same stadium after the women's games. While Japan competed with the women with the currently best available players, there were only two field players ( Yūzō Kurihara and Hideto Takahashi ) and the two substitute goalkeepers of the Confederation Cup squad in the Japanese men's squad . The Australian and South Korean squads each had eight players who were also in the squads for the last World Cup qualifiers on June 18, 2013, but no players from Europe.
