The second edition of the East Asian Football Championship , officially East Asian Football Championship 2005 , was from July 31 to 7. August 2005 in South Korea held. Four teams from the East Asian region have qualified for the finals. Of these, South Korea , PR China and Japan were already set. In the qualification in Taipei could North Korea prevail. The People's Republic of China became East Asian champions in 2005 . It was China's first international title win. Macau was banned from qualifying due to a suspension by FIFA .
In the qualification, the five worst teams in the association played against each other in a group stage, the winners of which qualified for the final round. The East Asian champions were determined through group matches.
The prize was $ 500,000. The runner-up received $ 300,000, the third received $ 200,000, and the fourth received $ 150,000.

The 2005 EA Football Championship was hosted by defending champions South Korea. The tournament took place in three different locations:
- on July 31 and August 3 in Daejeon at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium (3 games)
- on August 4th in Jeonju at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium (1 game)
- on August 7th in Daegu in the Daegu World Cup Stadium (2 games)
The venue for the qualifying games from March 5 to 13, 2005 was the Taiwanese capital Taipei .
