The fourth edition of the East Asian Football Championship , officially East Asian Football Championship 2010 , was from 6 to 14. February 2010 held in the Japanese capital Tokyo. Four teams from the East Asian region qualified for the finals. Of these, South Korea , PR China and Japan were already set. In the qualification in Taiwan could Hongkong prevail.
The qualifying round was played out in two group phases. In a pre-qualification, the four worst teams played for a free place in the second round. The other three teams not seeded for the final round also took part in this. The winner qualified for the final round. The East Asian champions were determined through group matches.
China won the tournament ahead of South Korea and Japan. For the Chinese it was the second title after 2005.
venue
The Olympic Stadium and the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo were the venues for the final tournament games . Japan hosted the finals for the second time after the first edition in 2003.
The first qualifying matches were played in Yona on ( Guam ). The second qualifying round was played in Kaohsiung , Taiwan.
