The North Vietnamese national soccer team was the national soccer team of North Vietnam . It existed from 1956 to 1966 and completed very few international matches during this time, mainly against other communist states such as North Korea and the People's Republic of China. In 1975 it was merged with the selection of South Vietnam to form the Vietnamese national football team .
Their first international match was played by North Vietnam in 1956 against the People's Republic of China , which was lost 3: 5. The national team recorded their first victory in 1960 with a 3-1 win against Mongolia . The last international match was played by North Vietnam in 1966 against North Yemen .
North Vietnam did not participate in the qualification for the Asian Cup or the World Cup.
