The Dasharath Rangashala stage ( Nepali दशरथ रंगशाला Dasharath Rangashaala ) is a stadium in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu , Nepal , and is the largest in the country. It is mainly used for soccer games , cultural events and entertainment programs. It offers space for 25,000 spectators, of which 5,000 are seated. The stadium was built in 1956.
Most of the national and international sports competitions in Nepal are held in Dasharath Rangashala Stadium. The stadium was renovated for the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 , which was held in Halchowk Stadium and Dasharath Rangashala Stadium.
There are plans to demolish the Dasharath Rangashala Stadium and replace it with a new building with 40,000 seats. The Nepalese government has provided the sum of 50 million Nepalese rupees (around 360,000 euros) for a stadium site. The Nepalese parliament still has to decide on a new stadium.
