Ljubiša Broćić (born October 3, 1911 in Belgrade ; † August 16, 1995 there ) was a Yugoslav football coach .
Career
Ljubiša Broćić, who was active as a player at SK Jugoslavija in his career , coached many top European clubs. He began his coaching career in 1946 as coach of Albania , where he won the Balkan Cup that same year . Then Broćić worked for the Yugoslav clubs Metalac Belgrade , Red Star Belgrade and Vojvodina Novi Sad . After he was active as a coach from 1954 to 1956 in the Middle East and from 1956 to 1957 at PSV Eindhoven , Broćić was coach of Juventus Turin for the 1957/58 season . Since he did not speak Italian , Teobaldo Depetrini was put at his side. At Juve Broćić played with a defensive 5-3-2 formation that was always ready to stage star strikers Omar Sívori and John Charles at lightning speed. The Old Lady's team practiced this style very successfully, winning their tenth Scudetto this season .
In the 1958/59 season Broćić was released in November, among other things because Juventus in the European Cup 1958/59 already in the preliminary round - the second leg was lost 7-0 - failed at the Wiener Sport-Club . On November 16, 1958, he was relieved of his office in favor of Depetrini and initially continued to scout the Juve . For the 1960/61 season Broćić was appointed as coach of FC Barcelona . If the season started promisingly with four wins from the first four games, Barcelona later fell into a crisis and Broćić was sacked in January 1961. In his later years, Ljubiša Broćić coached other clubs, mainly from the Arabian and oceanic regions.
