The Cerro Silala (also: Cerrito de Silala ) is a mountain peak in the western Andes mountains on the border between Chile and Bolivia . At 5685 m, it is the highest point on the edge of the Siloli desert and is listed in the peace treaty of 1904 between Chile and Bolivia as one of the mountain peaks that mark the newly formed border between Chile and Bolivia after the Saltpeter War. On the Bolivian side, the mountain is located in the canton of Quetena in the province of Sur Lípez in the Department of Potosí , on the Chilean side in the Región de Antofagasta .

On the north flank of the mountain, an almost circular depression with a diameter of about 500 m can be seen, which is probably a meteorite impact crater . To the north and west of the mountain are the Silala springs , a multitude of springs that flow from Bolivian territory to Chile and the use of which has repeatedly been bilateral negotiations.
