The FC Chomutov is a Czech football club from the north Bohemian town of Chomutov . The first men's team currently plays in the third highest division, the ČFL .

Club history

The first records of the football club in Chomutov, which often changed names (Sokol, Hutě, Baník, SK VTŽ, SK VT, ASK VT DIOSS, FC Chomutov, FK Chomutov and again FC Chomutov), ​​date back to 1920. There are more detailed records it only started at the end of the Second World War in 1945. The first success came in 1967, when the club rose to the 2nd division according to the league system of that time. Before that, football played only a minor role in Chomutov after ice hockey and handball.

In the years 1968 to 1982 the club settled between league two and three. In 1982, a year after a league reform, he qualified for the I. ČNFL (2nd division) and in 1986 fought in the top third for promotion to the 1st division, who was second in the table in a head-to-head race with Viktoria Pilsen was missed. Up to now, that was the best placement in the club's history. There was another guest appearance between 2000 and 2003 in the second division .

In the 2009/10 season, after four years of fourth division, they were promoted to the third highest division in which the club has played since then. During the winter break in 2011, FC Chomutov had a notable increase in the office. Ivan Horník , who was involved in match-fixing at FK Viktoria Žižkov and who had been banned from practicing for ten years by the association, returned as sporting director at FC Chomutov. Horník only stayed in office for a few months.

A new stadium was inaugurated in Chomutov in July 2012, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the ice hockey stadium. In the future, the agreed kick-off times will attract more fans to the stadiums. In the 2012/13 season the final of the Czech Football Cup took place in the Letní stadium in Chomutov.
