Union Krefeld (full name: Ballspielverein Union 05 eV Krefeld ) is a sports club from Krefeld . The first soccer team plays in the district league. The club belonged to the then first-class Gauliga Niederrhein for two years and to the then second-class II. Division West for eleven years .

history

The club was founded in 1905 as FC Union Krefeld . In August 1919, FC Union merged with the Crefelder Ballspielvereinigung, founded in 1911 as FC Adler Krefeld , to form BV Union Krefeld. The licensed soccer department merged with the licensed soccer department of the CSV 1910 Krefeld in the period from October 15, 1949 to April 30, 1951 . The product was called CSV Union Krefeld . The actual merger was completed on July 25, 1949, but was not approved by the association until October 15, 1949. On April 30, 1951, however, the merger was resolved again.

In the 1930s, BV Union took part in the promotion round to Gauliga Niederrhein three times in vain . It was only in the fourth attempt in 1942 that he was promoted to what was then the top division. In the first year, the league succeeded despite a 16-1 defeat at TuS Helene Altenessen . A year later, the relegation followed with a point ratio of 2:34. Curiously, the only win of the season against Altenessen was achieved. After the Second World War , the merger association CSV Union was included in the II. West Division. In the seasons 1949/50 and 1951/52 the best results were achieved with fifth place. In 1960 the team had to relegate and was also passed down in the association league and slipped into the district league. It was not until 1972 that he was promoted to the regional league. After a third place in the 1975/76 season, BV Union had to return to the district league a year later. In the following years the club commuted between the district and district league. In 2017 the Unioners were relegated to the district league B.

The only national appearance in the German Cup was the 1954/55 season , when Union Krefeld reached the round of 16 after a 4-0 first-round win against Eintracht Braunschweig , where Alemannia Aachen lost 4-2 (2-2) after extra time.
