The TSV Detmold (full name: Turn- und Sportverein Detmold von 1911 eV ) was a sports club from Detmold . The association was founded in 1911. The club became known for its football division, which played in the second-class II division between 1950 and 1952 .

history

Early years (1911 to 1950)

On June 28, 1911, the club was founded as 1. Detmolder FC Teutonia and is the oldest football club in town. Two years later, Teutonia celebrated its first title with the Lippe district championship. In March 1919 the club merged with another club unknown by name to form VfB Detmold . After the end of the Second World War , the association was re-established under its current name. The most successful epoch of Detmold football began in the following years. Numerous expellees from the German eastern areas strengthened the team.

In 1947 the TSV became champions of the Bielefeld district class and prevailed against SG Bünde 08 together with FC Höxter in the following round of promotion to the Landesliga Westfalen, which was the highest Westphalian amateur league at the time . Initially, Detmold occupied midfield and achieved small surprise victories such as a 3-0 win against Preußen Münster in the 1947/48 season . In 1950 TSV became champions of its season and met VfB 03 Bielefeld in the finals of the Westphalia Championship .

After a 1-1 draw in Bielefeld, Detmold won the second leg 4-0 and became Westphalian champions. Now TSV took part in the West German amateur championship and initially won 3-2 at SG Düren 99 . The team then secured the title with a 5-1 win against Cronenberger SC from Wuppertal . 14,000 spectators saw the game on June 10, 1950. At the same time, the team rose to the 2nd Division West.

From the second division to the association division (1950 to 1959)

In the second division in the first year in Group 1, the 12th place in the table was reached and achieved 1-0 victories against renowned clubs such as Meidericher SV or VfL Bochum . Arminia Bielefeld was even defeated in both games. In the following season 1951/52 , the team had to be at least eighth due to the downsizing of the II Division to secure relegation. In terms of sport, the team had no chance and decided in March 1952 to return the license for the II Division.

The TSV did not appear at the games in Wattenscheid and against Bochum. However, the association did not accept the return of the license and threatened to move the TSV into the 1st district class if the team did not play the season. When those in charge of Detmold finally agreed to play in the national league in the 1952/53 season, the Detmolders ended the season and were last. The low point of the season was a 9-0 home defeat against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen .

Back in the national league, TSV only offered its supporters mediocrity. It wasn't until 1955 that better times began again with fifth place. The highlight of the season was a 4-0 win at Arminia Bielefeld. A year later , the TSV confirmed fifth place and thus secured qualification for the newly introduced Verbandsliga Westfalen , where it reached sixth place in the first season of 1956/57 . With a 5: 1 another big away win at Arminia Bielefeld could be achieved.

In the following years, the club lost more and more top performers to more financially strong clubs, so that it only reached tenth place in the 1957/58 season . A year later , the Detmolders said goodbye to the Westphalian upper house as the third from last. Despite a 9-0 home win against SV Bockum-Hövel , the Detmolders were missing a point to save the bank at the end of the season.

Decline and Merger (1959 to 2015)

After a fifth place in the 1959/60 relegation season, in which the Detmolders were able to defeat VfJ 08 Paderborn with 10: 1, relegation to the district class followed a year later. According to some sources, the TSV waived their national league place despite athletic qualification, other sources speak of a 1: 4 deciding defeat against VfL Mennighüffen in the neutral Brackwede . The district class was to become the sporting home of the TSV for over ten years before advancing to the state league in 1974. As bottom of the table, the Detmold rose again promptly and did not return to the national league until 1978.

There the TSV was runner-up twice in a row behind SpVgg Fichte Bielefeld and FC Gohfeld , before the Detmolders had to relegate again in 1989 after years of mediocrity. Only in 2000 succeeded the renewed promotion to the regional league, which was followed two years later by relegation as the defeated bottom of the table. Turbulence within the club ensured that the first team was relegated three times in four years between 2002 and 2005 and slipped down into the B district league. Since the promotion in 2010, the Detmold played in the district league A, which they had to leave down at the end of the 2013/14 season.

On June 20, 2015, came to the merger of TSV Detmold with the Post SV Detmold to post TSV Detmold . On the date of the merger, TSV Detmold dissolved and the members joined Post SV, which changed its name and included the Hermannsdenkmal in its club's coat of arms.

Stadion

TSV Detmold played its home games on Jahnplatz , which was popularly known as the pine oak sports field . The stadium was opened in 1940 and is located on Lageschen Straße next to the Pinneichenpark. The game is played on an ash court surrounded by a running track. The audience capacity today is 7,000 seats. Today the place is used by the Christian SV Detmold .
