Franz Farke (born November 20, 1928 ; † May 12, 2010 ) was a German football player .

Career

The striker Farke began his career at Grün-Weiß Steinhausen from Büren in the Paderborn district . He played for the green-whites until 1950 before joining TSV Detmold . In the 1951/52 season Farke moved up to the first team and scored nine goals in 29 games. Nevertheless, the Detmold were bottom of the table and were relegated to the Landesliga Westfalen . Farke then moved to Borussia Dortmund in the then first-class Oberliga West .

Farke had a successful 1952/53 season in Dortmund . In 21 games he scored 17 goals and was together with Alfred Niepieklo the top scorer of his team that won the championship of the Oberliga West. This qualified Dortmund for the final round of the German championship , where Farke scored the winning goal in the first game against VfB Stuttgart to make it 2-1. Nevertheless, the Borussia missed the entry into the final due to the poorer goal quotient compared to the Stuttgart.

For the 1953/54 season Farke moved to the Oberliga Nord for Eintracht Braunschweig . He played for two years for Eintracht and scored nine goals in 24 games. In 1955 Farke returned to the Ruhr area and joined SV Sodingen from Herne . With the Sodingern he reached the semi-finals of the West German Cup in 1957, which was lost 3-5 at Fortuna Düsseldorf . A year later, Farke rose with Sodingen from the Oberliga West and then managed direct promotion. For Sodingen he played 107 times and scored eight goals.
