Kim Takhwan (born October 27, 1968 in Jinhae , Kyŏngsangnam-do ) is a South Korean writer and literary critic .

Life

Kim Takhwan was born on October 27, 1968 in Jinhae, South Kyŏngsang Province . A writer as well as a literary critic , he approaches writing from a scholarly perspective, creating a unique marriage of fiction and early Korean literature based on his expertise in the classics.

Almost all of his works are set in the middle to late Chosŏn period (1392–1910), a period in which feudal structures were still unchallenged, although calls were already being made to respond to modernity. However, Kim is not satisfied with simply recreating historical characters and events, but always wishes his readers to feel a sense of continuity and constant communication between the past and the present in his works.
