Hwang Jin-i (Gisaeng name Myeongwol , roughly: shining moon; * around 1520, † around 1560) was a Korean Gisaeng celebrated for her artistic talents .

Little is known about Hwang Jin-i. There are, however, numerous anecdotes about her, and some Korean syllable poems, so-called three-line Sijo, have been handed down under her name . Along with Chunhyang ( 춘향 ), Shin Saimdang ( 신 사임당 ) and Eoudong ( 어우동 ), she is the most famous woman in early Korean literary history. It is very likely that she had a tragic love, as one of her Sijos tells about such a tragic love. Another poem tells about the beauty of their homeland, Gaeseong .

There are numerous South Korean films about Jin-i's life, including one with Song Hye-kyo . The best known film adaptation is a TV drama with Ha Ji-won .
