Ha Ji-won (* 28. June 1978 in Seoul as Jeon Hae-rim ) is a South Korean actress and singer .
Life
Ha Ji-won began her career with supporting roles in television productions. Her breakthrough came in 2002 with the lead role in the horror film The Phone , which thematically and stylistically resembled a whole section of horror films that were being produced in East Asia at the time. For her performance, she was nominated for the Blue Dragon Film Award as best actress . This success secured her many other film offers as well as “Big Star” status. A less successful attempt as a singer fell in the same year.
Ha is called " Queen of Scary Movies " in Asia and won the Paeksang Arts Award for best actress for the 2004 TV mini-series Memories of Bali .
She also played the lead role in the very popular series Secret Garden (2010-2011).
In 2017 she starred as the assassin in John Woo's thriller Manhunt , a remake of the Japanese film Self Defense (1976), which is an adaptation of the novel Kimi Yo Funnu No Kawa O Watare .
Her younger brother Jeon Tae-su was also a well-known television actor. He died on January 21, 2018 at the age of 33.
