The SC Rapid Cologne was a sports club from Cologne . SC Rapid is a predecessor of today's FC Viktoria Köln .

history

The SC Rapid was created on July 29, 1949 through the merger of VfR Köln 04 rrh. and the Mülheimer SV 06 . The SC Rapid was founded as a bearer of hope, but could not meet expectations during its almost eight years of existence. With a sixth and seventh place in the 1949/50 and 1950/51 seasons , the club was initially able to assert itself in the midfield of the second-class II Division . In 1951, Rapid's license was withdrawn, but the club was then approved for the coming season. As bottom of the table followed in 1952 relegation to the Landesliga Mittelrhein.

In 1954 Rapid was one point ahead of TuRa Bonn champions of the national league season 1 and was able to prevail in the finals of the Middle Rhine Championship against SV Baesweiler 09 . In the promotion round to the II. Division, however, the Cologne team had no chance and ended up without winning points behind TSV Hüls and VfL Benrath .

Rapid remained a top team in the Upper House of the Middle Rhine, but could not win another championship. The club was the owner of the Höhenberg sports park. On July 10, 1957, the SC Rapid then merged with the upper division Prussia Dellbrück , who had an ambitious team, but no stadium for SC Viktoria Cologne .
