The VfR Ohligs was a sports club from Solingen . The first soccer team played for a year in the then first-class Gauliga Niederrhein .

history

The club was founded in 1907 as the ball game club Einigkeit Ohligs and in 1919 took the name VfR Ohligs. A year later, he was promoted to the then first-class mountain district league , which was followed by immediate relegation due to a league reform. In 1930 succeeded in the rise again in the first class. There the VfR was third in the group in 1932 and 1933. The team was not included in the newly created Gauliga Niederrhein in 1933.

The second half of the 1930s was the most successful time in the club's history. In 1937 the Ohligser first reached the promotion round to the Gauliga, but failed at BV Altenessen and Union 02 Hamborn . A year later, VfR Rot-Weiss Essen had to give way. In the third attempt it worked with the promotion, when the Ohligser could prevail against Borussia Munich-Gladbach and Borussia Velbert . The first and only season of a Solingen soccer team in the Gauliga ended with direct relegation.

The VfR was knocked off bottom of the table. At home, the team lost 1:10 against Fortuna Düsseldorf and at Schwarz-Weiß Essen there was even a 0-13 defeat. In 1942, the team reached the promotion round a fourth time, but had to give Union Krefeld the right of way. On September 3, 1949, VfR Ohligs merged with Ohligser FC 06 and VfL Ohligs to form Union Ohligs .
