Klaus Quinkert (born December 5, 1930 in Neukirchen-Vluyn ; † February 11, 2018 in Hüls ) was a German football coach .

Quinkert played actively at VfB Homberg and SV Neukirchen before the qualified sports teacher devoted himself to coaching. His first coaching stations were TuS Xanten , Weseler SV , SC Kleve 63 and VfB Speldorf .

From 1967 the sporting rise of FC Bayer 05 Uerdingen (today KFC Uerdingen 05 ) was closely linked to the name Klaus Quinkert. He brought well-known players such as Hans Sondermann , Horst Riege and Manfred Burgsmüller to the Bayer Werkself. After signing the 19-year-old talent Friedhelm Funkel , Quinkert and the team achieved their first promotion to the Bundesliga in the 1974/75 season . There the club then finished last in the table. Klaus Quinkert narrowly failed in 1978 with Rot-Weiss Essen on renewed promotion to the Bundesliga. In April 1980, Quinkert took over the Westphalian upper division club SpVgg Erkenschwick , which he confidently led to the championship and the associated promotion to the second division in the 1979/80 season . In the second division season 1980/81, however, followed, also due to the introduction of the single-track second division, relegation. Klaus Quinkert then took over the coaching position at the association league club Viktoria Goch in 1981 and led the club to promotion to the Oberliga Nordrhein in 1982 .

From the mid-1970s to the early 1990s, he worked as a physical education teacher at the Max-Planck-Gymnasium in Duisburg .
