Football regional league 1969/70
Regionalliga 1968/69
Bundesliga 1969/70

The football regional league season 1969/70 was the seventh season of the then second-highest division in German football .

Season overview

Kickers Offenbach , relegated from the previous year , made it back to the Bundesliga . They were accompanied by Arminia Bielefeld , who was promoted to the German upper house for the first time. With their goals, Ernst Kuster and Horst Stockhausen ensured a 2-0 win at Tennis Borussia Berlin, with which the club supervised by Egon Piechaczek was able to outstrip the play-free Karlsruher SC on the last day of the promotion round .

The other relegated team, 1. FC Nürnberg , only just missed the promotion games behind Offenbach and Karlsruhe. A similar fate befell the former Bundesliga club Tasmania 1900 Berlin , who only came in third behind Tennis Borussia with the same number of points because of the poorer goal difference - six goals were missing .

mode

85 teams played in five regional leagues. The two best teams in each regional league at the end of the regular season played the two first division promoted teams in two five-team rounds. With the exception of the Regionalliga Süd, in which the last four teams were affected, the last two in all leagues had to be relegated to the 1st amateur league.
