FC Bayern Munich became the first in the 1968/69 season of the German Bundesliga and thus German men's championship .

Season overview

FC Bayern Munich won the first five games of the season and were leaders from the first to the last match day. In the end, the lead over runner-up Alemannia Aachen was eight points. The gap between the second-placed Aacheners and the bottom of the table was only ten points. The Munich team also won the DFB Cup, which was the first time a German club had won the double since 1937 (FC Schalke 04). This success meant the national breakthrough for FC Bayern in football. Munich coach Branko Zebec only used 13 players for the entire season.

In addition to Kickers Offenbach , the reigning champion and record title holder 1. FC Nürnberg rose to the second division for the first time.

The top scorer was Gerd Müller from Bayern Munich with 30 goals.
