Career
societies
Fritz Kosar played in the youth teams of FC Bayern Munich since 1949. From 1957 to 1960 he was in the goal of the Bayern amateurs until he was promoted to the league team. Fritz Kosar belonged exclusively to FC Bayern Munich between 1960 and 1969 and played for them in the Oberliga Süd , from 1963/64 in the Regionalliga Süd and most recently in the Bundesliga . In his first season with Bayern he was a substitute goalkeeper behind the Hungarian Árpád Fazekas ; after his move to KSV Hessen Kassel in 1961/62 he became a regular goalkeeper. After completing 65 league games, he made 15 appearances in his first regional league season in 1963/64 , before the up-and-coming Sepp Maier, who had been on a professional contract since 1962, ousted him.
He played his first game for Bayern on December 31, 1960 (17th matchday) in a 1-0 win at home against SV Waldhof Mannheim ; against this team he also played his first regional league game, which ended on November 10, 1963 (14th matchday) with a 2-0 victory in the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse . As a substitute goalkeeper behind Maier, he played three Bundesliga games in the 1965/66 season, all of which ended in a draw. He played his first on October 23, 1965 (10th matchday) in a 1-1 draw "on Schalke" ; his last on May 28, 1966 (34th matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against Werder Bremen . He was also used in five games for the trade fair cup (the forerunner of the UEFA Cup competition) in 1962/63 . Although actually a goalkeeper, he was occasionally used as a field player while Sepp Maier was in goal. Kosar scored on December 4, 1962 in a 6-0 win in the first leg against Irish champions Drumcondra FC in the 2nd round of the trade fair cup with a header.
At the end of his professional career, he played for SC Armin 1893 Munich, VfR Garching and Tus Geretsried.
