Walter Horstmann

Walter Horstmann (born August 28, 1935 in Hildesheim ; †  August 21, 2015 in Groß Escherde ( Nordstemmen )) was a German football referee .

Horstmann, who lives in Nordstemmen, directed a total of 144 Bundesliga soccer games from 1964 to 1982 and a total of 36 Bundesliga soccer games from 1974 to 1982 . In 1975 Horstmann headed the DFB Cup final . In 1970 and from 1978 to 1981 he was on the FIFA list, during which time he headed three international A matches and five European Cup matches.

From 1991 to 2005 Horstmann was chairman of the Lower Saxony Football Association in the Hildesheim district. From 2011 until his death he was honorary chairman of the Hildesheim Referees Association, which he chaired from 1969 to 1981.
